Taking stock of California’s weighted student funding overhaul: What have districts done with their spending flexibility?

California’s watershed 2013 Local Control Funding Formula created more spending flexibility and put districts in the driver’s seat for deciding how to spend substantial new dollars. In LCFF’s early years, analysis finds districts generally didn’t make radical changes in spending, but did show evidence of spending in ways that could help disadvantaged students and of “customizing” spending to meet local needs.
