Located in the Finance section under the “Learning Environment” tab, the school-by-school spending data includes total expenditures broken out by source of funds as well as total per-pupil expenditures. While New Mexico compares the school spending to the district average, New Mexico does not report a statewide average per-pupil expenditure. To calculate a state average, collect the school-by-school information for every school in the state and conduct your own calculation.

New Mexico provides a downloadable data file providing outcomes data for each school in the state in the Accountability section of the New Mexico Public Education Department website. Click on Graduation Data in the right-hand column to view the 4-, 5-, or 6-year cohort graduation data. The Achievement Data page provides performance on state academic and English language tests. Use this to identify schools with similar outcomes. Then, visit each school’s report card to gather demographic and school-by-school spending information. New Mexico provides enrollment data by grade for every school in the state. While it does not include demographic information, it can be used to compare similar-sized schools.
