New Financial Data Spotlight the District Role in Distributing Dollars Across Schools

Historically, school finance discussions have centered on the state’s role with regard to adequacy and cross-district equity. The federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires reporting of per-student spending by school, putting a spotlight on how districts deploy dollars to schools.
