State, district, and school leaders want—and need—help translating data and research findings to inform decision-making.

Researchers frequently use our IES-funded school-by-school spending archive NERD$: National Education Resource Database on Schools. But we knew the data could have immediate, effective, and practical use for education leaders as well, to help them make spending decisions that advance equity and leverage funds to maximize student outcomes.

In this blog, we share lessons learned from designing data tools with end users in mind, toward helping other researchers maximize the impact of their own work.
